Android is currently targeted at mobile devices (phones). To make it run on the low powered processors that means Google would need to take out functionality that the phones wouldn't support like a Memory Management unit and add in the functionality that is unique to phone, making calls and sending texts. The fact that it's built on the Linux kernel means that by adding those pieces back in they would become closer to a standard Linux distro in terms of capabilities. I would expect to see Firefox, Openoffice and the standard mainline Linux apps ship on an Android based netbook as ASUS did with the EEEPC.

Do think Android is robust enough to be a netbook OS?

What type of apps do you expect to see running from the Android OS?

Yes, Android is certainly robust enough to be a netbook OS. It has deep roots in Linux which is very robust. I expect to see any app that runs on Linux to run on Android.

Here is a link to a list of the 100 Best (Useful) OpenSource Linux apps as picked by Ubuntu Linux Help one app. they missed that should be on the list is Amarok.
