I've rarely had trouble with any particular brand of flash drive, and have found that there is no definitive advantage to paying a premium price for one brand over another.
When it comes to flash drives my advice is to buy on price and to be certain that you always have the drive's contents also stored in another location (a hard drive on in "the cloud").
Sales prices change as often as the hour-hand on the clock. I'd select a retailer that you trust and have had smooth transactions with in the past.
A month ago, I found 4 GB flash drives for $10, and now those prices are even lower. Morriss003 is correct, that 4 GB is small; 8 GB seems to be the new standard. However, if you only have a gig or two of files to store, that means that you can likely find 4 GB drives for a song on the old clearance rack.
The link provided below will take you to the J and R on line store (a favorite retailer of mine). There you will see the results of a search for "USB Drive." Prices are as low as $5.99 for a 2 GB drive and as high as $199.99 for a 64 GB drive (Wow! That's HUGE!).
Good luck!

What is the best 4GB flash drive?
I do not have a ton of documents, but I want to keep the ones I do have safe and sound. What is the best 4GB hard drive? Do you know of any sales?

Four gig is kind of small these days. I have had them since they first came out, and Sandisk flash drives have always given me the least trouble. Some of the computers I had would not boot if certain flash drives were plugged in first. One other company that I have purchased from is pexagontech.com. I like them because you can get one engraved with your name and phone number. I have not had any trouble with them. The ones that gave me the most trouble were from Lexar.
