As high tech toys come and go each year, the old stand bys such as dolls and even the cardboard box will never leave a child's imagination and love.
Kids live in a tactile world and doll they can brush, touch, drag around and even physically abuse will not be replaced by preprogrammed pointing and clicking at some pixels.
Its a tech fad plain and simple.

It's what happens with all toys, and this one will not be different, even though it has huge potential of being the #1 seller of this Christmas season.

Are children going to stop playing with ordinary dolls now that the Dora Links Doll is interactive with the web through a computer port?

I'm very sure they will not. The doll will be very popular until after Christmas, but after that, the 'new' factor will wear off, and girls will not use it as much any more, as they would now. It's what happens with all toys, and this one will not be different, even though it has huge potential of being the #1 seller of this Christmas season.
