Anyone ever upgraded Windows mobile 5 to 6.x on PDA? Is it free? possible? costly? worth it?

It depends on the device and manufacturer. Some have given or made the update available for free. Some haven't.

There are however unofficial upgrades floating about that can be used entirely at the owners risk. Have a look at xda-developers and be sure to read all the instructions before you make a decision.
