Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I recommend reading some of Cesar Millan's books. You might need to practice "calm assertiveness". YOU are the pack leader, so YOU decided when and where you are walking.

You might also get a harness that you can easily control the dog from the front or, like Cesar suggests, move the collar to a high point on the dog's neck. If the dog gets out line, you give him a little pull on the lead to correct him. Reward for good behavior!

My family has trained all of our dogs with prong collars. Prong collars are similiar to choke collars, but (as the name suggests) have prongs on the inside. If used correctly they are a great training tool, especially for energetic dogs that like to pull or run after things on walks. With the use of a prong collar all of our dogs are now trained to be walked without a leash. My dogs won't even chase after squirrels.

If you're worried that prong collars sound dangerous, if used in the correct fashion and fitted right, prong collars can work wonders. In the source area I have included websites about proper use and other tips.
