I knew he has a bridge, bird, mascot, ice cream, and day dedicated to him, but how much does he have. I am always so amazed to learn he has something new named after him. It's almost like he could go into the history books.

Here's what I could dig up off the net:

Stephen Colbert once again proves his influence on pop culture by having a new species of spider named after him.

Among other things, he's had an ice cream and a hockey team mascot named after him.

It helps to have fans in high places. Colbert has had a peregrine falcon making its nest atop City Hall named after him.

The male falcon was dubbed "Esteban Colbert" by Mayor Chuck Reed, an admirer of the Comedy Central star.

The falcon is the third wild bird or mammal to be named after the host of "The Colbert Report." Breeders at the San Francisco Zoo named a bald eagle Stephen Jr. in 2006.

Last month, researchers at the University of California, Santa Cruz, christened a pair of elephant seals Stelephant Colbert and Jon Sealwart, the latter after Colbert's fellow Comedy Central pundit, Jon Stewart.

AND Don't forget a guy named his racing Grayhound after him!

Also, Colbert has won three Emmys, two Peabodys, truthiness was voted Word of the Year twice by American Dialect Society and Webster's; I forget what magazine called him one of the 365 most influential people; Time says he's one of the 100 most influential people; New York Magazine says he's one of the dozen most influential people.

He was voted person of the year at the US Comedy Arts Festival, Maxim Online's second sexiest new anchor, one of Virgin America's planes is called Air Colbert, and he won Spike TV's "Gutsiest Move" award.

Oh, by the way, we forgot THE most obvious thing Stephen has named after him: A TV Show !!!
