Taleb Nassim's hedge fund selloff may have triggered US stocks plunge. Opinion ?
This WSJ article reveals that how the big US stock markets big plunge may have happen.
It may have started with hedge fund Universa Investments LP, a hedge fund advised by Nassim Talib, placed a big bet (7.5 million trade for 50,000 options) in the Chicago options trading pits that stocks would continue their sharp declines.
Nassim Taleb is a New York University professor, made his name predicting the credit crunch and author of popular books “Fooled by Randomness” and "Black Swan”.
One of his views is that we should focus on the “structure”, not the “trigger”.
Example given is last straw that breaks the camel’s back. Focus on the camel’s back, not the last straw.

Telegraph has an article on Taleb Nassim’s views.
Is US economy in bad shape ?
Are Americans worried for double-dip recession ?
Is Nassim Taleb widely followed in US investment circle ?
Any insights ?
Thanks.
