Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

No, you shouldn't put them back in the pot or in the soil of the pot, they should be thrown out.

Why?

The dead leaves could have fungus or mould spores and will infect the rest of the plant if left in place - could be the reason that leaf died.

The dead leaves can harbour insects or eggs that will infect the rest of your plant - again it may be the reason that leaf died in the first place.

So although leaves do generally make good compost you have to ask yourself why that leaf died when all the others were healthy - its probably best to be cautious and discard the leaves into the bin.

See sources below for more information about the care of potted plants and the types of problems they can have...

Generally, you should throw out the leaves that potted plants drop because they can introduce diseases into the soil.
