Yes and No. We all want artists to be able to live off their work. In a perfect world media would pay for itself, ie movies cost money to see, ads run during TV etc.
Specifically, Conan hosts a show. I'll watch ads during that show, because thats how the show makes money. Ideally the show exists and the ads don' sell the show, they just pay for it. I am there for content that he creates (along with his writing staff). I want to watch Conan interview people, do sketches and be himself. The idea of using that to sell me something is lame.
However, this being the real world, people want security, and I am sure what ever they paid him seems like free money. Commercials are shot very quickly in a few days. Conan has a family, its practical to accept an ad every now and then. It does not hurt his rep, I am not going to stop watching his show over this.
So its lame, but in the end, as long as he is a TV host who does an occasional ad, it doesn't hurt

Also, it would take something *major* (like murder) for me to lose any respect for Conan. Love him!

Do you consider a celebrity who stars in ads a sell out?
Conan OBrien recently starred in an ad for Bud Light. So you respect him less as a performer now?

No, I consider them smart. Fame is often fleeting, so why not milk it while you can? In the past, celebrity endorsements may have been viewed as sell outs, but it is so common these days that no one seems to give it much thought. Also, it would take something *major* (like murder) for me to lose any respect for Conan. Love him!

No, not at all. Rick (Richard Dean Anderson) was approached by SNL to join in the fun for the first set of 200 MacGruber stunts, but it was shooting in a few days and he couldn't get away that quickly. I don't think this re-creation for Pepsi had anything to do with the Pepsi sponsorship for him - only that he loves the show and the goofy MacGyver sendup, and was able to take the opportunity to join in this time.
