This year, the Superbowl game immediately follows my Son's first birthday! I've invited the friends and family that are coming to stay after the 1 year old birthday fun is over and watch the big game.

Especially for Superbowl, I'm going to make 3 different kinds. They're easy to prepare and can be done ahead of time.

I also like to get everything ready for people to make their own personal sized pizzas. I find that this works better for my group of picky & sickly friends than making a large one.

I just prepare and place all of the ingredients on the counter beside my oven and let people load up their own toppings. This also works well to keep any kids who might be present busy. The kids like to take orders and make the pizzas for everyone.

Of course we're having a super bowl party! Ok.. I lie, we're having a Super Bowl Commercial watching party!

Starting things off with a spinach bread bowl, homeade of course. (I take my normal white bread recipe, ad 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 1 small box of frozen and drained spinach to the bread machine.

Then I fill it up with an artichoke/spinach based sour-cream ranch stuff. Yum!

We'll also be having normal, fried in oil and basted in rich butter and hot sauce - hot wings!

Every year I make a few cakes and stuff, but it seems only the cookies get eaten. Cake just doesn't seem to have a super bowl spirit.

Will finish things off with a chicken and sausage gumbo

Or for those who want a lighter "soup", some easy to make chicken "Poodle soup".

Soup and gumbo are being made today, along with the cookies.  Leftover gumbo is always better!

Whatever your traditions, be sure to enjoy the day! And the commercials!
