Super Bowl hangover -- what is a good cure?

If I've celebrated too much during and after the game, what can I do this  morning to make sure I can be productive at work?
Tip for best answer: M$2.00

Even though food is really the last thing on your mind at this point, I agree with bsin21! Eat something. My favorite used to be Kentucky Fried Chicken. I say used to because I don't drink anymore

Prozak...I don't believe the Cards lost!!!!

As far as the hang-over goes, experience gathered from far too many clubs far too late into the night, says this...
Hangovers seem to be mainly dehydration. Guzzle some gatorade(or pedialite is better if you can handle the taste) and maybe a couple of aspirin for the headache. STAY AWAY FROM CAFFEINE...as tempting as it might be...

If that doesn't sound like a fit for you, try these from About.com:

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Eat small frequent meals that are healthy for you: fruits, veggies, maybe a little cheese and crackers, too, throughout the day.  Limit your starches.  No junkfood. You'll just feel more tired if you overload on the pasta at lunch. Have a small portion. Take the rest back to the office. You'll be able to gnosh in the evening in the event you have to work late.

Curb the caffeine if at all possible and anything else that can dehydrate you. If you are on diuretics, talk to your doc to make sure there's nothing else you should be doing to recover (besides not having done what you weren't supposed to do :P)

Personal experience. I avoid the greasy burgers that I used to eat when I was in my 20s. I feel lots better and much more productive with the above.

If you're not dieting or concerned with healthy food, I suggest your favorite fast food or go to a diner and get breakfast since they serve it all day. Take aspirin as recommended on the bottle and drink water and coffee and you'll be fine.

I have to disagree with the no-caffeine crowd on this one. While yes, it does have a bit of a diuretic effect (and the primary cause for hangovers is dehydration), the amount in a couple of cups of coffee is not going to have a serious detrimental effect. Additionally, part of the headache associated with hangovers is related to the low blood-pressure situation brought about by the aforementioned dehydration. Caffeine helps to constrict the blood vessels in the brain, raising the blood-pressure, and helps to alleviate the headache. This is why certain brands of headache medicine (Excedrine, Anacine, etc) contain caffeine.

Ideally, drink as much water as you can, and limit yourself to a very moderate amount of caffeine.

Finally, my ultimate cure for a hangover (and I guarantee it works EVERY time, no exceptions): Don't drink too much in the first place.

Stay hydrated. This also means, stay away from caffeine if this is part of your morning ritual. I suggest a high-carb (low grease) breakfast, and replace your coffee with a non-fat/low-sugar milkshake or smoothie or yogurt drink. If going for a milkshake try bananas/strawberry. Better still, a mixed vegetable green smoothie might do you good too. Avoid taking painkillers for headache but it you must, if you have to go to work, take half of the prescribed dose of an OTC painkiller such as Tylenol or Advil.

Keep the lunch small, maybe a salad/soup/sandwich

and hopefully by the middle of the day, you will be feeling better.

Best way for me is to plan to take the day off beforehand if possible. There are certain events (*cough*Oscars*cough*) where I know I will be staying up late and partying almost every year.

But if that's not possible, Lots of fluids, combined with easily digestible but nutritious snacks like toast, bananas. If nausea, stay away from the dairy.

Try to keep your work area quiet and dim. Turn off bright lights if possible. Wear sunglasses if your co-workers won't laugh.

Try to structure your day so that you ease into the work day. Do something light to start--maybe e-mail if your eyes can take it, maybe returning calls, or filing. Take frequent breaks to walk around and stretch.

If you can catch a cat nap somewhere unobtrusive at work, during lunch, this could help. I've got a yoga mat at the office for stretching that I will occasionally sack out on during lunch. Even 10-15 minutes helps, if you've got an alarm and, again, if it's OK at your work and won't be considered "unprofessional."

There are a variety of cures, but one thing that might prevent some of the hangover effects next time is prickly pear extract.
