Suggestions on photo management software please. Looking for something to manage all my digital images

sort, cross reference, search etc. Collection has quickly grown too large and the task of making my albums easier to deal with has gotten quite daunting.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would suggest Google Picasa. It is free. Organize, edit, create and share in one software. It auto searching and arranging the photo in your computer. It is mean to be very easy to use.

PIcasa is a great solution, and it's free up to 1G! Thereafter, it's $1.25 to $2 per gig.

For software to manage photos, I agree with the folks here and really like Picasa. You can tag and search easily - which allows you to sort and cross reference. If you're looking for an online solution though, I much prefer Flickr. It's $25 per year for unlimited uploads, which allows you to backup your photos online as well as easily share with whomever you please.

I actually use Picasa to go through my photos and edit/enhance them on my computer. I can tag them and add descriptions on my computer through Picasa. Then I upload them to Flickr to store and share - and all the info I've added through Picasa is automatically uploaded to Flickr too.

Hi, for large numbers of images, jpeg and RAW, you'll want to look at either:
Adobe (Photoshop) Lightroom or
Apple Aperture

Lightroom and Aperture are professional level - but suitable for all of us. They are tools which allow for filing, managing, searching for and editing our images. Both are amazing products, well worth the cost ($299 Lightroom, $199 Aperture). It's a personal choice, usually based on your photo editing software (or RAW converter if you are shooting RAW files).

Also, If you don't already have editing software - either of these products will give you most of the editing capacity that you may ever need.

Here are the links:

Have fun!

Thanx for your answer as well, I might look into Lightroom in the future, but I already have Photoshop, and Paint Shop Pro, right now I just wanted something to help me organize all the photos etc. spread out over 2 externals and 2 partitions, (spring cleaning time.)
