SUGGESTION: For twitter questions would it be a good idea to see whether questions were imported or asked directly? Why?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I sort of agree with above statement, yet I believe Mahalo is trying to promote Mahalo Answers this way as its social media strategy and not everyone knows about @answers, so it works out fine, yet some of these answers should be filtered. We know when they use @answers they really wanted an answer, and even more so they wanted an answer when they wanted a tip. I don't believe everyone knows that they can tip via @answers, or knows how to. Whether we like it or not, Mahalo has done a good job with the Twitter integration, and allowing all types of questions to be asked on Mahalo Answers. This is essentially a way of artificially flooding the system with questions, which they would not otherwise get on the site. So, yes I agree with this suggestion that we should know if the question was asked with @answers, and maybe it should be starred or highlighted some way so that the people who are answering know that this question really needs an answer, or is more serious. Some people may have asked questions, not expecting an answer, but now are aware of Mahalo Answers.

Yes, it's been suggested previously that direct @answers questions should be more visible and be given a priority position for quick answering. Certainly something that will be worked on for the next major Answers upgrade.

twitter questions that weren't asked to Mahalo's "@answers" username shouldn't be listed in Mahalo to begin with. IMNSHO of course. If I ask a question to people following me, or to my buddies, Mahalo shouldn't be scraping the twitter public feed for that content. If I wanted answers from Mahalo, I'd ask on Mahalo or via @answers.

(In case it's not clear, this is my least favorite "feature" of Mahalo)

Yeah, it seems a bit beneath MA to do this. I understand the need for traffic, but it's too "splogesque" for a site with so much legitimate potential.

The biggest problem with "imported" questions is the tongue-in-cheek response. I'm probably giving smart-ass answers to people who never asked to participate in Mahalo.

How would you feel if a random stranger started responding to your tweets?

If it was a legitimate one, it would probably be helpful. Smart-ass ones, not so much - especially from a random stranger.
