Color has significant psychological effect on people. If you want people to trust your numbers, blues/aquas relate to trust. If you want to look progressive, or "with it" you'll want to use the latest trend color palette.
Below I list a couple of websites that will give you insight into either the latest trends in color, or the psychological impact of colors. I suggest you decide what your secondary goal is (thinking that the first goal is to convey the numbers) and select the colors that best support that objective.
The pictures below show up-coming color trends in varying seasonal palettes. (Even though some are tagged "wedding," they none-the-less indicate what colors will make your report look most "up-to-date.")
