Suddenly I see a lot of utterpop pop ups and vimax pill ads all over the Internet. What has happened?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

While I have no definitive source to quote on this, I will share my theory.  Two things happen in January which produce this proliferation of such advertising.

1.  New budget - Time to start spending again, since the old year is gone (if you have any advertising money, that is)

2.  New Year's Resolutions - Probably the best time of the year to sell any health-related product or service.

Again, just my two cents' worth.

Your DSL/Cable modem/router has been hacked and the DNS server (the system that directs to you the site you've entered) that you would usually use has been replaced by the idiots that promote ViMax.

You'll need to get into the modem/router and change back the DNS server (contact your ISP for the information).  Finally you'll need to change the default passwords (this is how the hacker got in to the system) to lock down the system

Sometimes excessive amounts of pop ups are caused by viruses that are somewhere on your computer. If you want to find a way to get rid of it then google the URL of the website, and check out the threads in some forums to see if anybody else has had similar problems, and have found a solution
