1. Fishermen is considered the #1 most dangerous job in the world. Alaskan Crab Fisherman among them.

2. Sales workers and Truck drivers have the highest number of deaths.

3. No. I'd rather clean toilets.

Considering you are at the mercy of the sea I would never go on a fishing boat and try to catch fish, crab, lobster, whatever. The fish isn't worth it! Driving a truck is not good either because statistically 1 out of 10 drivers on the road are drunk.

I'd go be a housekeeper at a hotel before I'd do either.

Statistically speaking, it is neither the Alaskan Crab Fishing nor logging and also not the mining job which is considered as the most dangerous job in the world by taking most number of lives per year. The above are however the most dangerous jobs in US statistically.

Quoting from the World Health Organization (WHO) website -
--quote--
"Globally, asbestos alone is responsible for 100,000 occupational deaths per year. Meanwhile, in the agricultural sector, which employs half the world’s workforce and is predominant in most underdeveloped countries, the use of pesticides causes some 70,000 poisoning deaths each year.."
--unquote--

Asbestos industry is the most dangerous place to work based on the number of deaths caused per year in this industry, i.e., more than 100,000 deaths per year globally.

Here is the link: http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2005/pr18/en/

I would do such a job only when I had nothing to do or nothing is left to do.

(This might be a totally wrong answer, but during my google search, I find these alarming facts and thought that it would be good for us to know about asbestos-related hazards).

High steel workers, like those in the picture, still have the most dangerous job. Steeple-jacks have the highest proportional "accident" rate. I can't imagine me doing either.

1. According to an article at crookedtimber.org, the most dangerous job is President of the USA, followed by the Pope, both of which are more dangerous than Hezbollah member, Iraqi soldier, or US fisherman. Consider all the assassinations and other deaths in office. See

2. Over which time period? One year, or all of human history? It's not easy to get accurate worldwide statistics, and the US is not like many other countries.

I think those guys that climb on the electric poles to fix power outages have a really dangerous job, but historically speaking, it seems like miners of all kinds have been faced with the most fatalities. It's still pretty dangerous to be a miner.

Prostitutes have the most dangerous job in the world. They are exposed to sometimes fatal STDs on a daily basis, often multiple times per day. They are usually beaten, sometimes fatally by pimps that control nearly every aspect of their lives. A large percentage of prostitutes are also addicted to drugs either because of pimps or in order to deal with the pain of their day to day life. This poses even additional work-related risks and dangers. Obviously, to these women (and men), it is not a job. It is their entire life.

Although there are still certainly some prostitutes who do what they do willingly. Others do so because they have found themselves in difficult situations, while even more fall prey to sex trafficking. Prostitution is the oldest profession known to man, but to many, it is still considered slavery rather than an actual vocation.

People don't die so often but it is certainly dangerous to be a cab driver, they get held up at knife and gunpoint a lot more than cops

Hey there Budda.

We've pretty much done this topic before...

http://www.mahalo.com/answers/what-do-you-think-is-the-most-dangerous-occupation-to-have-in-the-world-i-e-you-could-actually-die-doing-it-food-taster

Of course we don't actually have stats for the whole world, and the most dangerous places and jobs are probably particularly least likely to have reliable stats available.

But basically: "What I said before."
