I think the dividing line nowadays is Interstate 70, actually. That seems to separate "soda" (south) from "pop" (north), too. I-70 cuts through both St. Louis and Kansas City but, in my experience, St. Louis "seems" more southern.

By sheer location, it is in the Midwest. However, since I went to college and lived there for several years, I can tell you that a lot of Missouri seems like the stereotypical south. Even the Missouri Compromise made the state at odds with being a free state or a slave state. I think the dividing line nowadays is Interstate 70, actually. That seems to separate "soda" (south) from "pop" (north), too. I-70 cuts through both St. Louis and Kansas City but, in my experience, St. Louis "seems" more southern.
