Yes, I'm sure he will. Although this is an indefinite suspension, I don't think the rules call for a permanent ban from the sport for a failed drug test.
However, his claim about "mixed medications" is total BS. That what everybody says who ever fails a drug test (see Ramirez, Manny). They say that they have NO IDEA why they could be failing a test. It's a bunch of hooey, as my granddad says. Any professional athlete under a strict drug testing regime is extremely careful about what they put in their body, unless they are cheating or negligent. And if Mayfield was either one (as it looks like he was, since the independent drug testing company said his explanation was completely false) then he deserves a suspension.
But to answer your question, no, I don't see him getting a permanent ban.
