Why do we always complain about the players getting paid so much money but never complain about how much the owners are making off players?

1. You don't get to see the owners performance in detail over and over like you do a player.

2. There is a resentment for players since they are making millions of dollars for what many consider "playing." Of course it's much more than just playing.... their lives are dedicated to performing at a high level.

3. Bad apples doing bad things off the court lead people to question the impact of huge wealth on young, and sometimes uneducated, athletes. The reasoning being that all this money plus no maturity = recipe for disaster.

Finally, many professional sports teams (i.e. the NBA) lose money year after year. So, it's not like the owners are raking in tons of cash in all cases.

Good question. I believe its because, unless you've got some inside information, we don't know exactly what the owners gross/net income is.
