One of the principal reasons behind its popularity is its simplicity. All that you require is two teams of 11 players and a ball. It couldn't be any simpler. For this reason it can be enjoyed by all nations, both developed and developing countries. Ironically it is from some of the smaller, developing nations that we see some of the best players coming from. The rules are simple and most countries today have a football league.
