It depends what kind of results you're looking for. For the most part, if you're trying to increase your distance and run long races, then long runs are better. So, long runs are better if you're looking to increase your endurance and stamina. Yet, if you're looking to increase your strength, then you might want to stick to shorter sprints. So, if you're looking to do some intense training (lose some weight), then you should also continue to do sprints. Short sprints or Tabata sprints are good for you to burn extra fat while retaining muscle. What's great about sprints is that they do not take as much time, and you can burn more calories than if you were to do longer runs. With sprints you should do them a couple of times a week to achieve the maximum results you're looking for. Hopefully this helps, and best of luck with your results!
