Should sports teams wear white uniforms or their colors when they play at home?
Do you prefer how they do it in the NFL or NHL, where - with a couple exceptions - teams wear the colors at home, or MLB and the NBA where they wear white at home?

The intent of wearing white at home is to allow the home fans to see all the different colored jerseys from around the league. The NHL had this philosophy for many years, but they discovered that the top selling jerseys were the dark jerseys and that they could sell even more jerseys by making the dark jerseys home and allowing teams an "alternate" dark jersey. I personally prefer the way the NHL used to do it. When the away team is always wearing white jerseys it starts to feel as though your team is playing the same team over and over.
I prefer the white for home games, always have
I prefer colors at home, white on the road.
I pick colors.
I agree with Kerryk, MLB and MBA feel standard when it comes to team colors at home - white stands out more and when I am watching a game on TV it helps me to quickly identify which team is home.

The NHL used to have White as home jersey's - that changed after the lockout because of the "Sea of Red" that happened in Calgary after the 2004 playoff run.

The rule changed thinking all cities would do the same thing. I thought it was a good idea, however in hindsight now when watching your favourite team day in day out and always seeing the same white color on the opponent it makes games more bland to the hometeam fan.

White for sure...
Home teams deserve their colours. It's their right. The away teams should get white.
In my opinion, I would rather go with light colors for home teams and dark colors for away teams.
My reason is simple as some teams don't really have any white uniforms but they just have light colored ones. Teams that go on the left are usually the away team while the one on the right is the home team.
Let's say: LA Lakers at Orlando Magic.
Here, we know that Orlando Magic will wear white (light) while the Lakers wear the colored ones. Ever since before I've always associated that the team on the right wears white or light. It rhymes.
So I'm for the MLB and the NBA where they wear white at home.

My fiance plays for the Portland Timers soccer team and they always wear colors at home. Main reason this is important in my opinion is because you want your home town stands to look like you as the player. You want to see as many green and yellow shirts out there as possible (in our case!) so that as a television viewer you know right off the bat where the game is taking place.
Color always at home!
