Is it the Avalanche's goal to hire Patrick Roy as head coach? Would that be as disastrous as Wayne Gretzky coaching the Coyotes?

Probably not,

Patrick Roy has had a successful Junior coaching career, where Wayne Gretzky had no coaching experience before being brought in by the Yotes.

Regardless, Roy has declined to coach for the Avs.
