A Football match is 90 minutes long. Running Time. Divided into 45 min. halves.

1st Half counts (0"- 45"). 2nd Half (45-90")

"Stoppage Time" or "Injury Time" is added after each half under the discretion of the Referee. To compensate for play stoppages caused by injuries, fouls, ball went off the field and decisions by referee to stop play. Usually about 1 to 5 min. are added.

Half-Time Interval is 15 min.

In a Semi-Final round or Finals. Where a team must Win to decide a result.

If a score after 90 min. of play remains a Draw (like "0-0" or "3-3"). Extra Time would be played.

Extra Time is 30 min. Divided into two 15 min. halves

1st Extra Time (0 to 15 min.)
2nd Extra Time (15 to 30 min.)

If after Extra Time. The score remains a Draw. A Penalty Shootout would proceed after to decide the Winner of a match.

Penalty Shootout:

5 selected players of each side. Will attempt to score a goal from the penalty area.

IF after the 1st round of penalty shootout and the result is still a Draw.

A 2nd round of penalty shootout will be made. With a 2nd selection another 5 players from each side.

Players that are substituted during match play, are ineligible to be selected a penalty taker. A player who took part in the 1st round of penalty shootout would also be ineligible to be selected.

A soccer match is 90 minutes (with a 15-minute break in the middle). For statistical and play-by-play purposes, time is kept counting up (e.g. the US scored in the 26th minute; often abbreviated '26).

Games are 90 minutes long.

45 mins for each half so it starts at zero and counts up to 45. You will notice that the clock stops at 45 minutes, but there is usually injury time (an additional 2-4 minutes of play). Therefore a typical half is around 47-48 minutes, but the clock stops at 45 and the ref keeps track of the injury time.

Injury time accounts for the time players get injured and wasted time when the ball goes out of bounds. *The clock does not stop when a player is injured*
