Well women did have a league of their own... http://www.aagpbl.org/league/history.cfmbut it was during WWII... the owners of the major league teams were trying to keep baseball in front of the country and to keep the interest level up while the men were away at war. It was called the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. It existed between 1943 and 1954. But not only did the women have to play good ball they had to look pretty too... after practice they went to charm classes, they had special uniforms designed for them and learned how to wear makeup appropriate for a ball player :) nothing is ever easy for us women ROFL. I remember as a little girl my father took me to one of their exhibition games... they were very impressive.

They certainly can, but as for many women's sports, they are less supported by the fans because the action is often less intense, due to the physical differences in men and women.

I think girls could play baseball, not sure there is a rule stating they can't. There used to be a womens baseball league back in the 1940's, I believe. If you've ever seen the movie, "A League Of Their Own", it was about a team in that league.
