Next Question
Here's a post I found on Golfrewind.com...
"I once asked a pro at a range I used to go to about the distance differences. He told me that with wedges, the distances were probably right on and that the less lofted the club the more distance you lose with range balls. He said that with drivers and fairway woods, the difference could be as much as 15 yards"
I think a lot has to do with the age of the ball, because the smoother it is the less aerodynamic it will be and the less it will travel in the air. I believe the quality of the range ball isn't as good either so even a brand new ball will fly less.

• I guess yours is the best answer. It's the only one. I also asked 2 teaching pro's at the range/course where I play, and was told that range balls are fairly close to real yardage with low irons ( lw,gw, sw, 9) then things change 8,7, 6 are 10 - 20 yards short. The 5,4,3, Irons are 20 - 40 yards less. Then there are hybrids and woods, but I won't go into all the rest. But drivers can be up to 40 yards less.
Yes, I will definitely agree with you that there are some range balls that are rocks and just die (balloon) when hit.
