No, it's quite difficult to repeat these days in baseball. They have some free agency issues, Andy Pettitte perhaps retiring as well. That and every team will be out gunning to take them down. They'll be good and might even make it back, but to repeat will be a tall order. Phillies won last year and lost this year to the Yankees. The last National League team to win back to back series' was the Cincinnati Reds of 1975 and 1976. Having said all this, the Yankees won three straight from 1998 to 2000. But I still don't think they'll do it this time.

They definitely have a shot, but it will depend somewhat on the offseason. Cashman today implied that he would only re-sign one of the three FAs (Jeter, Posada, Matsui). The free agent market doesn't look to be as strong this offseason as it was last, but if the economy stays flat, the Yankees are one of the few teams who will still spend money, so they can get whatever free agents are out there. They will definitely contend, but we'll have to see how things unfold before calling them a sure-fire repeater.
