According to Wikipedia, his family is from Mexico.

I've found many sources saying that Eric Chavez is Mexican-American and was born in America, but I haven't been able to find a single source that mentions his parents/grandparents or who in his history moved here from Mexico. I suppose that's just not public information. Sorry!
