He failed a drug test (USA Today). He's trying to claim that he was on some allergy meds that caused the failure, but a spokesperson for the lab is basically saying that that's not likely.

As reported by ESPN.com, Jeremy Mayfield was suspended indefinitely on from all NASCAR sanctioned events after violating the substance abuse policy.

This was his response (and to be frank, it has become the standard response of athletes who fail drug tests, including the recent Manny Ramirez cheating):
