NHL - Sidney Crosby
He's a clean-cut kid with an amazing record. Yeah, I think he's just at total flash-in-the-pan, and I think he'll never live up to the legends of Hull, Gretzky, Orr, etc. But this 22 year-old (let that age sink in...) is the Captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the youngest captain ever to win a Stanley Cup Championship (2009).
And he promotes (key word) the NHL very well in every possible way. He's the fresh young blood of the NHL, drawing in a new generation of fans, and he's stacking up to be one heck of a role model. He's a poster boy! And he very well could be the future of the NHL (unless his pan flashes too soon).

MLB - Albert Pujols
Ok, ok...now that I'm done snickering (again) about his name, let me point out that Pujols (hehe) is a young phenom. At 29 years old, he's already bagged himself a World Series title, he's already surpassed the 300th career HR mark, and he's been MVP twice (finishing second three times).
Plus - and this is important! - in 2008 he won the Roberto Clemente Award, which goes to the player who "best exemplifies the game of baseball" (quote: Wikipedia). That says it all to me - he really is a fresh, young face of baseball, and he does with WITHOUT THE 'ROIDS! That in itself is a *promotion* for fans to fall back in love with the sport. He stands for everything that is great about the game.

NBA - LeBron James
I think you're going to get him as a pretty standard answer for the NBA representative. Let's face it, the guy is a triple-double madman, averaging 27.5 pts. per game!
And as a role model and poster boy for the NBA, he's done very well by himself, *promoting* the league phenomenally and - much like Sidney Crosby - drawing a whole new generation of fans to the sport. Did you know he was the first black man ever to appear on the cover of "Vogue"? And that he's working on a tv special about his life? And the man's been All-NBA and on the All-Star roster every single season since 2005. 'Nuff said.

NFL - Peyton Manning
What can you say about the stats this guy has racked up in the NFL? 3-time MVPer, and he's arguably one of the greatest QBs of all-time (and don't us NFL fans just love our QBs?)
Plus, he was recently named as the NFL's most "marketable player", meaning he does the ads, he does the tv appearances, he makes the kids swoon. He is the face of the NFL right now. He is the reason that NFL nuts are NFL nuts.

NFL: Payton Manning- this also shouldn't be a surprise. he also has a great personality, tons of endorsements. plus he's clean cut, you don't have to worry about him getting into any trouble with the law or with the NFL its self.
MLB: Chipper Jones- the only reason i chose him is because he's the best player i can think of in the MLB who's not on the juice, at least not right now.
NHL: Sidney Crosby- he is one of the best players if not the best. he's young and he just won the stanley cup,

MLB- Derek Jeter - He's an articulate, intelligent sports hero who apparently had a father who instilled some really important values. He doesn't do steroids.
NBA -Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat - He stays out of the controversy and insists that his fame should be used to help others. LeBron - he didn't even shake hands with Magic players, after getting beaten by them!
NFL - Tom Brady - Brady has defined himself as one of the great quarterbacks of his day. But as we all know, on-field performance doesn't in itself qualify an athlete as a role-model. With Brady there have been no scandals, no public displays of immaturity.

Which 4 major league athletes best promote their sport?
Pick four current athletes, one from each of The 4 Major leagues being the NHL, MLB, NBA and NFL.
What "best promote" means is up to you, just be sure to explain why you chose who you chose.

NHL - Sidney Crosby - does a lot of off ice work with kids and for charities. He is a good role model in that aspect. Him playing the game with passion is also good for kids.
