Those who believe in the world to come (Olam Ha-Ba) may believe in a sort of Purgatory (Gehinnom) where Jews are punished for their transgressions in this life in order to purify their spirits to ready them for entrance into paradise. However, this isn't really Hell as most people think of it because a.) it's only for believers, and b.) The maximum time it lasts is twelve months.
