Will you stay up to watch the 2009 Perseid Meteor Shower?

I've never seen this, but am tempted to stay up to watch the 2009 Perseid Meteor Shower. Peak viewing starts tonight, at midnight on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, and goes to 5:00 a.m.

Anyone with me?

I'll most likely stay up. It's been a while since I've pulled an all-nighter, so tonight might be a good night to try. Hopefully, viewing will be good in my area. In the past I've complained about there not being enough street lights in my neighborhood, but the lack of street lights is definitely a good thing when trying to look at the stars.

Unfortunately a 3/4 moon rises at about 10:30 and viewing conditions are not predicted to be very good on the eastern seaboard. As a result, I will probably not bother. I don't mind staying up when the showers take place closer to a new moon.

I'd love to, but living in an area with a large amount of light pollution means I can barely see the moon...

In past years however they've been spectacular

I don't think I'll be able to view much in my location, so most likelye wont be able to see anything even if i would want to watch it.

I may just end of watching it if the moon isn't too bright. I read that its going to make it a little more difficult to see it due to the 3/4 moon. Who knows, I might need a cigarette around that time and may catch myself looking up at the stars.....or shooting stars.

And an extra note about this usually 2-3 weeks before the peak date you can see meteors too yearly.. As soon as it Hits August I watch the Skies.. This years dates working up to the peak dates had some pretty good meteors but last night had some nice bursts arround midnight central time and around 2:45am ... but not much activity last night night before it was quite a bit and a couple of nights ago was so much I thought it was thunderstorming still but after the cloud moved it revealed the meteors ... So even if you miss this shower this year keep watch around it next year sometimes there are some after the peak date too.. Its always pretty neat it is just hard to find the actual time to watch it... I felt bad last year I emailed over 300 friends about it.. To realise I told them the day After it was... not many skeeter bitten friends were happy with me :) .
