Somehow managed to get poison ivy from my dog... How does that happen??

You can only contract a poison ivy rash after coming in contact with the oil from the plant. It is possible that your dog retained some of the oil on his fur and that was transferred to your skin. It is probably a good idea to wash your dog thoroughly as well as any materials he might have come in contact with in your house. It sounds as if he rolled in it.
