The iPhone 3G did not include forwarding SMS - maybe they might include it in a future edition. Therefore you will have to jailbreak your iPhone 3G if you want to be able to forward via SMS. There is a variety of software applicable to forwarding in SMS. For example: Cydia (which is free). It is explained (how to install) underneath.

How do I forward SMS without jailbreaking my iPhone 3G on firmware 2.2.1
I am looking for an iTunes App Store application; either free or pay for, that will take the place of the Text built-in application of the iPhone. Preferably I also do not want to use a 3rd party's network to send my SMS messages, but instead utilize my mobile carrier's network (Smartone-Vodafone in Hong Kong)

I answered honestly. He may have wanted there to be a way without jailbreaking his iPhone 3G - but I provided him with the correct answer and wasted my time trying to help vinko.
