I am currently running Windows 7 and can say it is the best version of windows I have run since Windows 2000. The fact that everything just works, it is easy to use, and security is far superior to previous versions of windows are all reasons I have been using and will continue to use Windows 7. Unlike Vista I have yet to have a compatibility issue and unlike XP the operating system doesn't look like it was made by mattel.

When Windows 7 is released I really suggest everyone consider it!

If you are a student you can even get the upgrade for only $30 at http://www.win741.com/

Curious as to which version you were using. The upgrade listed at http://www.win741.com/ is for Home Premium at $29.99 ($90 off list). See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/compare for a comparison of versions.

I had been using the Ultimate version for the last year (in both 32 and 64 bit).. I am not running the Ultimate Signature Edition (really no difference between this and normal Ultimate). I did test the Home Premium version and I think it would be perfectly fine for most individuals.

I agree with @spoon

I have been using the beta and RC (32 and 64 bit versions) and is great. I also signed up to host a house party for windows 7 launch and I got the signature edition of W7U.

Depends on how much the upgrade will cost and if it takes too much RAM. I guess on my netbook it won't be practical.

I've actually found that Windows 7 runs on older systems with little ram (replaced XP on a netbook with 1gig of ram and found an obvious increase in speed)

I'm not planning on upgrading ANY of my winxp machines to windows 7. I really don't think it will be worth it from a cost/benefit perspective.

On the other hand any new hardware I buy is likely to come with Win7 and thats how I'll end up making the transition.

Nah. I'm done with Windows, I believe. I switched over to Linux to avoid Trojans, Spyware and costly programs. I could not be happier. Things just work. And because it's open source, every single program or application available for any Linux OS is absolutely * free *. How can you beat that?

Check out the testimonials below, from those who RUN Linux! :)

Linux is a great way to go, I personally love my Ubuntu box and always have a CD with linux on it that I can boot to if needed.

The only problem is Linux still is not ready for the every day user ( though it is certainly close)

From what I understand Windows 7 is a mix between Vista and XP...it takes the best pieces from each and combines them...So I will definetly be getting it! And hopefully a new computer too :)
