Software-based Raid or Hardware-based Raid, does it matter anymore?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hardware-based Raid is always better. Also file system type is also important. I really like ZFS from Sun. With ZFS you can format and write to the drive at the same time. A Hardware-based Raid can have any type file system and just tell the OS say Windows the it's writing to a NTFS.

Try doing that with a Software-based Raid.

Hope this was useful
