If Marijuana will be legalized, California will be the first to do it. Everything seems to spread back east from Cali. Probably Washington state, Oregon and Nevada would be next to legalize it after Cali. If they can legalize it, they can tax it. So, it is highly likely it will be legalized at some point. People will always smoke "pot" whether it is legal or not. From a governmental point of view, why not make money on it. Also, the price would decrease. Look at Prohibition, what a booming time for alcohol sales and "speak easies", but it did not increase tax revenues.
In Georgia, we have a "sin" tax on alcohol and cigarettes. If we stopped being "sinners" how would they fund miscellaneous projects/programs?
The effects on society that concern many people have to do with, what will be legalized next. Personally, I have no problem with Marijuana being legalized. I would be concerned with something like methamphetamines, etc.

Legalizing marihuana will affect society, because, then we will be contradicting ourselves. We, as a country, have said that marihuana is bad and now we will be saying that it is acceptable to use this drug as part of our daily routine. This will be confusing for the young generations.

Will the State of California legalize Marijuana?
I heard that Cali is in the hole pretty bad and are considering legalizing and taxing Marijuana. I believe they already have for medicinal use. If they do, what other states do you think will follow? How do you think this will effect society? Do you support this and why?

Are you sure? Really?
They were able to legalize medicinal use, so the next step isn't too hard to imagine...
It's a legit question! I promise! I don't do trick questions bro! That's bad form!

I do not support the idea of legalizing marihuana. I think that if they legalize marihuana, all states will ask for the same. The reason is that in every single state you have a small amount of people that want marihuana to be legal. Legalizing marihuana will affect society, because, then we will be contradicting ourselves. We, as a country, have said that marihuana is bad and now we will be saying that it is acceptable to use this drug as part of our daily routine. This will be confusing for the young generations.

Thans so much for your reply!!
But I still have to point out Prohibition in the 20's and 30's... Isn't that the same?
I respect your view, just wanting to play Devil's Advocate! :)
