Borat is a character created by British comedian Sasha Baron Cohen, who is Jewish himself and often lampoons stereotypes of many kinds. Many Borat fans would argue that Cohen uses the character of Borat as a satire of anti-Semitic stereotypes, of the prevalence of anti-Semitism in much of the world, and of US/British complacency or lack of interest in global anti-Semitism. Detractors would argue that Borat's prejudice makes a joke out of a serious issue and is used for shock value more than for meaningful satire.
