Why did Mayan or Olmec civilizations build pyramids pointing towards Saturn?

Why were these civilizations fixated on Saturn? Was Saturn once a binary planet?

From what I know of what's mentioned in the Dresden Codex, the Mayans knew of three extraterrestrial planets: Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Perhaps by being the furthest planet known planet from the Earth, they thought it was special and wanted to study it more.

Saturn was not part of a double planet system from what we know, but there are two Saturn-massed planets that revolve around the star HD 83443.

What?! No.

No, no, no.

Where are you getting these questions?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you can't build anything pointing towards Saturn. Saturn zooms all the way around the Earth everyday, for the same reason the sun, moon, stars and other planets do.

Saturn obviously also revolves around the sun, what, once every 29 years? Because it's outside of the Earth's orbit, it even *appears* to go backwards sometimes. How could you possibly build a building that points at something that is constantly in motion?

Further, since Saturn orbits in the plane with all of the other planets, if you build a building that sorta pointed in Saturn's general direction, it'd also point in the same direction as all the other planets and the Sun.

Now, yes, I'm sure these people knew about Saturn. Anyone can walk outside and see it. I was unaware these civilizations had a thing for Saturn, maybe they did, but it's not the brightest planet, so it would be interesting. And they certainly knew about Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and maybe Mercury, in that order, from most prominent to least.
