Someone who has given me direction in my life would be actor/writer/director Kevin Smith, or Silent Bob as he is as such in his movies. His most well known movies are Clerks, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and most recently Zack & Miri make a Porno. I love his movies, but I am more so a fan of just him.

He was a small town kid living in Jersey and working at a small convenience shop. He had a passion for film and film making and decided to take a try at it. This is when he made Clerks. Anyone who has worked Customer Service should appreciate this movie. Heck, you should even if you haven't. The movie struck it big at the Sundance Film Festival and he hasn't slowed down since.

What I admire about him is he has been "in the spotlight" so to speak for almost 2 decades and remains to be the small town guy, just naturally hilarious. He has 3 DVD documentaries out which he goes to different parts of the world and does Q & As (questions & answers). He talks about his life and how he got to where he is now. He can take the most boring subject and make you completely interested, I could listen to him talk about nothing for hours. He has given me the confidence to pursue what I want and believe it can happen.

Good answer. Nice to hear about someone people might not normally think of as role model! I loved Dogma too.

A seventh grade teacher who, after some badgering by some of his students, finally, hesitantly told us what the theory of evolution was.
My grandfather who taught me that it's not necessary to obey every rule that was ever written.
Robert A. Heinlein who introduced me to the larger universe and it's possibilities.
A dentist who ran a Rexall drug store who taught me "all things in moderation."
My wife who taught me that it's not necessary to break every rule that was every written and probably saved me from prison.

The people I most admire are:

Leonardo da Vinci - to this day, he remains one of the greatest polymathic people to ever have shadowed this earth.

Sigmund Freud - for his theories of the unconscious mind in understanding conscious thought and behavior.

Carl Jung - founder of analytical psychology.

People I learned from and have been influenced by:

My parents, who show me constant love and support. Watching TV or observing other families makes me thankful on a daily basis.

Joseph Campbell, who changed my life with "Follow Your Bliss". As well as his incredible works on comparative mythology and comparative religion.

My heroes:

Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama

And most importantly...

My husband who is my soul mate - we are exactly the same, yet exact opposites.

My daughter, she makes me strive to be the best that I can be, so that I am a good example of a daughter, mother and wife for her.

Very nice list. I was looking for a bit more explanation of what those people meant to you, so if you'd picked out a few of the people and said more about how they influenced you, you probably would have got best answer.
