Someone who has given me direction in my life would be actor/writer/director Kevin Smith, or Silent Bob as he is as such in his movies. His most well known movies are Clerks, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and most recently Zack & Miri make a Porno. I love his movies, but I am more so a fan of just him.
He was a small town kid living in Jersey and working at a small convenience shop. He had a passion for film and film making and decided to take a try at it. This is when he made Clerks. Anyone who has worked Customer Service should appreciate this movie. Heck, you should even if you haven't. The movie struck it big at the Sundance Film Festival and he hasn't slowed down since.
What I admire about him is he has been "in the spotlight" so to speak for almost 2 decades and remains to be the small town guy, just naturally hilarious. He has 3 DVD documentaries out which he goes to different parts of the world and does Q & As (questions & answers). He talks about his life and how he got to where he is now. He can take the most boring subject and make you completely interested, I could listen to him talk about nothing for hours. He has given me the confidence to pursue what I want and believe it can happen.
