Raleigh-Durham is chained to its past. Seattle at least leans toward its future. North Carolina is a depressed blue-collar state. Washington has a better Hi-Tech sector than the Research Triangle.

Personally, I would never live in Raleigh-Durham. I had a chance to live in Seattle, but chose Portland, Oregon, instead. It has most of the advantages of Seattle and fewer drawbacks. No hurricanes in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle has a higher cost of living, but its economy isn't as depressed and jobs are coming in, not going out as in R-D.

Which city is more prestigious in your opinion, Seattle or Portland? Both are cities with a port and attract large numbers of people. Which city has higher taxes, Seattle or Portland. Why did you choose Portland over Seattle to work and live?
