I had the advantage of being friends with certain people which allowed me to interact with all the different cliques as a teen. Even so, I was considered the "good kid" that didn't get into trouble (or at least didn't get caught getting into trouble because no one believed I would do such things I might be associated with) and a large part of my teen life was spent as a "band geek" (which worked out well since the schools music wing was the only air conditioned part of the building so I could spend lots of extra time down there if I told teachers I needed to "practice" for upcoming events)
I always thought the cliques were annoying but something that I would only have to deal with while in school. As I have grown into a professional life I find that this thought was wrong. Daily I walk through the office and see the little cliques all around.
