Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg from the Fifth Element. Sure he has a limp and gets blown up in the end but he owns like, everything plus he gets to hang out with Tricky all day. He has a pet genetically engineered elephant-dog critter and a cute blue haired secretary at his office. He also has at least three crates full of ZF-1s, technologically advanced guns that shoot Plasma bullets, arrows (with explosive or poisonous gas heads), flames, nets, rockets, and liquid nitrogen. They disassemble for easy transportation and are good for righties and lefties. Just don't press the little red button on the bottom.
Played by Gary Oldman who is one of my favorite actors of any era, Zorg is one bad dude. Driven by greed and power, he trades people like Yu-Gi-Oh! all the while dressed in the finest rubber suits. I could totally roll like that.
Favorite Quote: This case is empty! (what do you mean empty?) Empty, the opposite of full. This case is supposed to be full. What the hell am I supposed to do with an empty case?!

I love him. Doesn't he sound like Ross Perot? (here's the rest of that great scene...)
Zorg: I hate warriors, too narrow-minded. I'll tell you what I do like though: a killer, a dyed-in-the-wool killer. Cold blooded, clean, methodical and thorough. Now a real killer, when he picked up the ZF-1, would've immediately asked about the little red button on the bottom of the gun.

Almost my dear Usagi, but you forgot "they fight for hopeless causes, like honor. Honor has killed lots of people but hasn't saved any."
This is a great question Phu. Maybe the greatest of all.

Voldemort.

You have to think about the villain and why he/she actually became a villain. Voldemort (Tom Riddle) as a child was left in an orphanage before going to Hogwarts, but his miserable life led him to enjoy others suffering. His sadism behaviour leads him to kill his father and grandparents...

However, he is an amazing wizard - highly intellectual and powerful!

I think Bellatrix is the best villain:P Of course Voldemort was the boss but his death eaters did all the dirty work. She was with Voldemort from the beginning and, you probably will agree, she does look like a villain. She isn't afraid of azkaban because she knows the bad side will win after all. She doesn't care to kill anybody, even if it is her own family. She is the most loyal help of Voldemort and would do everything for him. This shows that she would even kill herself if this would mean the bad side will win. Voldemort didn't think about his death eaters, only he was important.

I rarely wish for the villain to win because I usually hope for the powers of good to win in the end. (That way, I am usually pleased with the ending.) However, I did hope for Allister Krane to win out on Passions because my mother always watches that show and I wanted it to end so she couldn't anymore. If he had won, everybody would have died and the show would have therefore ended, right?

My favorite villain would have to be the "Queen of Hearts" character from ''Alice in Wonderland''. She loses her temper and screams "off with their heads." She's mean and bossy and and everyone fears her rage. I think she intrigues me because I have always been soft-spoken, on the quiet side, I over think before making a decision and I have a fairly 'slow' temper.

best villain? I'll have to vote Darth Sidious. he has been planning things for years while disguised as senator (later chancellor) Palpatine, and after that he took over the galaxy without much effort.

I don't think I'm ever rooting for villians to win. But there are villains that I can empathise with, don't want to die, and want to keep coming back so we can have more great stories.

They're ones with charisma and flair, some kind of humanity, and formidable power - because great villains make for great drama.

Some of them are:

Sylar, from Heroes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS3dEFX1Zuk

The Master, from Doctor Who

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSdE9x5bvjU

Or somewhat more seriously:

Michael Corleone, from The Godfather

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n47lFJfXLP4

If I had be one of them, it's a tricky choice. Sylar and the Master are... well... mad. Beyond reform, and beyond sanity. Michael Corleone started out as a good guy, and later tried to take the family legit, but couldn't.

The Master has a bunch of fun, even though he's a menace to entire univese, while Michael Corleone's life sucks in the end.

I'll go for being the Master, as I'd have a good time, even though - and also because - I'd always end up being thwarted by The Doctor

Darth Vader. First of all he was very cool with the robotic voice and wearing all black. I was only about 7 years old when I went to see Star Wars in the theater. I have been a huge fan ever since and to me Vader is the ultimate villan.

I was somewhat sad that Voldemort bit it. Even though I desperately wanted Harry, and good in general, to win...no antagonist means no more story.

Rowling will have to leave Harry Potter's world alone; tell back story (i.e. before Voldemort died); or create a new really-bad guy (if she wants to tell the story of who fills the "Voldemort vacuum") for the good guys to fight.

I really doubt that I would be all that into a new super-villain in that series, though, because it would be very difficult to top Voldemort - and if she created a scaled-back, not-so-nasty bad guy, well, it just wouldn't be worth it as far as I'm concerned. I imagine that this would be too anticlimactic, what with Voldemort and Harry's story already being told and all.

---

I also grew up wanting, very badly, for Sylvester to get his hands on Tweety Bird and finally get rid of that obnoxious, yellow dolt for good. Tweety Bird was one of the WORST good guys ever if you ask me - annoying, mildly stupid, and very easy to dislike. Sylvester wasn't exactly the world's worst villain, granted, but he was the bad guy in the cartoon, so I technically cheered for evil throughout my childhood. :)

---

If I had to be a villain, I'd probably want to be Voldemort. He had an entire army of loyal followers, and he was able to perform magic. Give me that kind of following, and that kind of power, and I can take over the entire world.

But I would surely use my power for good. No. Really. :)

It just occurred to me to add Pinky and The Brain from "Animaniacs" to the list of villains I wanted to see succeed. Yeah, the whole point was for them to fail, then try again the next night, but still - I kind of wanted to see some of their insane schemes succeed, such as the time when The Brain became "Bubba Bo Bob Brain," a country-music sensation who sent subliminal messages through his hit single. :)

Who couldn't root for Dr.Horrible? Great singing, NPH all the way.
No matter what he did, he just couldn't reach his goal, he couldn't get into the ELOE nor could he get the girl because of that darn Captain Hammer!

I always liked the coyote. His determination has no limits. Neither does his credit at the Acme Corporation.

There is a movie from 1979 called The Villian with Arnold Schwarzenegger as "Handsome Stranger." He and Ann-Margret "Charming Jones" have to drive a stage coach to claim some money that her father left her. (or something, I was distracted by Ann-Margret's two co-stars.)

Kirk Douglas plays "Cactus Jack" who is basically the coyote. And it's a live action road runner movie. Cactus Jack even tries the "paint a tunnel onto the face of a cliff" trick. Arnie et al just ride right through the tunnel. then, of course, Cactus Jack tries to pursue, and hits the painted wall.

Great film. Cast of thousands. (Well, ok, it has Ruth Buzzi, Mel Tillis and Paul Lynde.)

I would have to say Heathcliff of "Wuthering Heights" as portrayed on Masterpiece Theatre on PBS.

A gypsy boy taken in and raised by Mr. Earnshaw, Heathcliff develops a passionate bond with Cathy Earnshaw — a bond that comes to both define and destroy him.

His complicated, mesmerizing and altogether bizarre nature makes him a rare character, with components of both the hero and the anti-hero.

Even when he was clearly in the wrong going after a married woman that was once the love of his life, I found myself wishing he kicked Edgar Linton's ass.

At the beginning he is lovable and genuine but towards the end he is too real and his energy too destructive.

Wow.. Good Question..
None of these are your typical Villan, but a serial killer, meth distributor and Mob Boss could all be villans in someones book...

First Dexter Morgan on Dexter (Showtime):
He's a forensic specialist with Miami PD who is also a serial killer.
http://seat42f.com/images/stories/tvshows/Dexter/dexter-season-2-promo.jpg

also Walter White in Breaking Bad (AMC)
A drama about a high school chemistry teacher who's suffering cancer and becomes a Meth cook and dealer in order to pay for his chemo and support his family.
http://blog.digitalcontentproducer.com/briefingroom/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/breakingbad_0.jpg

and the Sopranos. Can't forget Tony Soprano.
