I think my power animal is a wolf, I belong to a pack, (friends, family) but, I tend to be alone most of the time, because sometimes I feel as if I'm being pushed away by others, like they want nothing to do with me. I also see myself as to having very sharp senses, I can hear, smell, and see extremely well.
I guess in my past, this helped me not to take things from anyone, when someone says that I'm stupid for instance, I'm not going to let that drive me away, I'll stand up for myself.
A wolf, being my power animal, could be telling me, that I can't do everything on my own, sometimes I'm going to need help, but don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something.

So now you've sent me on a VISION QUEST!....wait, no...what's it called when you use Google??....oh yes, an INTERNET quest! That's it. I've gone on an Internet quest to find my power animal! And my results were very interesting!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First, I took a quiz at this site.
http://www.jerismithready.com/quiz/
The quiz was interesting, well-written, and offered some very intriguing results (including giving you a long list of your "runner up" power animals).
My result:
SWAN - "Swans are idealistic, open-minded, and passionate. Your good nature often leads people to think they can take advantage of you, but they should be careful—beneath that serenity lies a fighting spirit. Your love is fierce and unconditional, fueled by the certainty that it should last forever."
(Owl came in second, and Crow came in third)
http://www.lpzoo.org/animals/images/facts/trumpeter_swan.jpg
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But then I went over to this site,
http://www.new-age-gifts.com/poweranimals.html
and read up on Power Animal meanings, and found that the swan was all wrong, wrong, wrong!
"The swan gives you the ability to handle change and transformation with grace and dignity."
Grace and dignity?? Those are not qualities I possess! Instead, I found that I better fit:
CROW - "This animal indicates the need to find balance and to stay in the present and will bring to you the ability to release past beliefs."
http://crow.bz/main/images/CrowSoccer3.jpg
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, since I've never had any affinity for crows or swans, I went to a third source:
http://www.windlegends.org/animals.html
And, here's the animal I thought fit me best:
TURTLE - "Mother Earth. By following the example of Turtle we can learn to ground ourselves in the nurturing and protective energy of the earth and to flow with its energies at a pace which assures completion of our tasks."
http://www.coldwaterimages.com/img/turtle1.jpg
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now as my Internet quest comes to a close, I realize that Power Animals should be natural visions of power and strength that come to us in our souls, hearts, and minds. So I closed my eyes, grounded and centered myself, and...and....I had a cat biting my nose. She wants my tortilla chips from lunch.
But maybe, just maybe, my power animal is a CAT!
That would make so much sense...

However, there are certainly animals I have an affinity for. Dolphins, lions, tigers, gorillas, and chimpanzees are among my favorite. They're all beautiful and majestic creatures.
I particularly like giraffes though, enough that I did a 3D model of a giraffe for my Organic Modeling class.

So, I read the groovy website @gno suggested and decided, why not? I'll take a power animal test too(http://www.jerismithready.com/quiz/)!
And learned I am an Otter!!!!
Just as I suspected (and mentioned in a Question last week), I've always been atrtacted to Otters - their intelligence, their socialization, their fun free spirit, their sleek design and natural affinity and love (and need) of the water are all so true to my heart and personality.
So to answer your question (even without a website to tell me) my power animal is an Otter!

Characters: Marek, Alanka, Kerza, and Kara in the Aspect of Crow trilogy and "Storm Reaper"; Lance in "The Wild's Call"
Powers: Stealth, hunting ability, enhanced senses of smell and hearing, as well as strength and stamina
"Family comes first" could be a Wolf's motto. You form deep connections with close friends and family members, and they know you'd do anything to protect them. You're loyal, devoted, and passionate. Your worst fear is being alone, but be careful not to drown your loved ones in too much emotion.
Best matches: Swans, Otters, Crows
Watch out for: Spiders, Owls, Foxes
That seems pretty close to who I am most of the time!

What is your Power Animal and why?
This link explains the meaning of power animals in just a few paragraphs.
http://www.shamanlinks.net/Power_Animals.htm
Important note from site:
"Power animals do not have to be mammals and can be reptiles, insects or sea creatures. Any living creature can serve as a power animal. (Plants and trees can serve as plant spirit guides.)
Domesticated animals are generally not considered power animals because they already in service to human beings. It is possible to have a domesticated animal, but it is more likely to have a wild untamed animal serve in the capacity of a power animal.
With that being said, tell me what is your power animal and how has it helped you in the past?
(Tyler Durden's power animal in 'Fight Club')

I would have to say that the Turtle is my power animal. I am slow and cautious of my action and very faithful to my family and friends. It takes me time to accomplish my goals but they are well thought out and have great ending results. Just like in the race of "The Tortoise and the Hare". The turtles determination helps him accomplish his goal to win the race.

The turtle also has a soft underbelly covered by a hard shell. Your only volnerability would be to fall on your back in the bright hot sun. (be careful!)

I think my power animal is the donkey. Not just any donkey, but Danny Donkey, as seen in the Pearls Before Swine cartoon strip. He was originally a stuffed animal who went bad. Now he's a sub-character in the cartoon strip who appears in books written by another character, Rat. Anyway here's my favorite Danny Donkey strip:

Well @dannyjohnson, a true power animal is one that is 'alive' and 'wild'.
But in your special case, I think Danny Donkey will do.

Wow @gno. I tired the 'power animal test' and it said I was a Hawk (isn't the hawk the opposite of a rabbit)
Now we all know that my power animal has to be the Rabbit. Here is a nice tidbit that I think you'll enjoy:
RABBIT's medicine includes humility, fear, guile.
"RABBIT, TEACH ME TO FACE MY FEARS.
LEND ME YOUR MEDICINE TO FREE MY MIND OF BOUNDARIES."

I have felt a connection to different animals at different times in my life. When I left my family in the deep south and moved to NY, I encountered a mother duck with 5 baby ducklings. She appeared near my home for most of the spring and I watched her babies depart with great sorrow. Later, while traveling cross country I encountered a wolf cub which felt especially relevant at the time. This summer I moved again, and have had several entertaining visits from a racoon and her two young babies. If you're interested but unsure, I found a great checklist to help identify an animal totem. 1) Since we are drawn to that which resonates with us, what animal, bird, or insect are you drawn to?
2) When you go to the park, forest, or zoo what animal are you most interested in seeing?
3) What animal do you most frequently see when you're out in nature or in the city?
4) What animals are you currently interested in learning about?
5) Which animal do you find most frightening or intriguing?
6) Have you ever been bitten or attacked by an animal?
7) Is there a recurring animal in your dreams or do you have one you have never forgotten?

I think that my Power Animal would have to be the Beaver. I am a novice engineer, and I have the ability to figure out how to adapt my surroundings to my personal benefit; and sometimes helping others live better lives in the process. I know what to do in order to keep myself well fed and alive, and I work very hard so that I can live to my potential. I also have a tendency to keep to myself, only focusing on the work at hand. That's why I think that I identify so strongly with beavers (they're also my favorite animal). It's on the fence whether or not I am cute and cuddly, but I most definitely would not make a good hat or coat. ;)

This is why I'm trying to convince my parents to get me a dog.
But the only problem that I would have this that, is I have a cat, I'm not sure how she would take that. :P
