We end up with a God who will send people to hell for not recognizing that he/she is the most important entity in the universe. A God who represents the lowest denominator of the human race instead of the highest. A God who is no better than average.

My Baptist friend once suggested that man did not give GOD human attributes, but that humans, created in the image of a singular GOD, possess some of HIS attributes.
This circular reasoning is why I am a Spiritual Humanist.

It seems that when we (if we) speak of Christianity, it's hard to separate "God" qualities and values from "Human" qualities and values since the god of Christianity is an ANTHROPOMORPHIC GOD, from the Greek anthro (man) and morphe (form). The Old Testament God was angry, vengeful, jealous. The New Testament Christ was born of Woman, Living and Dying a physical death, feeling forgiveness, compassion, love, even righteous indignation. Both describe a very human kind of god... or perhaps this is how man explains himself to himself. My Baptist friend once suggested that man did not give GOD human attributes, but that humans, created in the image of a singular GOD, possess some of HIS attributes.
This circular reasoning is why I am a Spiritual Humanist.
