1. Hawaiian Luau-This theme has been used at many different types of parties and is fun and the decor is beautiful to look at. Decorations include palm trees, leis, exotic flowers, and tiki torches. In addition to the decorations the music being played upon arrival can be Hawaiian based.
2. Hollywood-Celebrities are often admired and idolized so having a Hollywood based party would be great for those that are star struck. Decorations can include life sized cut outs of actors, the "Hollywood Sign", a replica of the "Oscar" award, and lining the floor with stars which would resemble the "Hollywood Walk of Fame". An extra touch would be to add a red carpet at the entrance so the students can make a Hollywood entrance. Here photographers can set up their cameras to take prom photos.
3. Casino-Even though gambling is only for those over 21, a casino theme can be fun for those that like to play card games. Decorations include covering all the table with green felt cloths, decks of cards, playing chips, large cut outs of casino based items hanging on the walls, and the chaperons can be dressed like casino dealers.
4. Disney-The wonderful world of Disney is a favorite of both young and old alike and choosing a Disney theme can really add a little fun to the prom. Decorations can include Disney characters posted on the walls, posters of all the Disney movies both in the past and current films, and some of the chaperones may be willing to dress the part as well.
5. Mardi Gras-Although Mardi Gras is sometimes displayed in negative way it can be a clean and wholesome celebration. Using this theme can be fun if organized correctly. Decorations can include fun masks, bright colors, a replica set of the French Quarter, and fun music with trumpets and saxophones.

Another one would be Paris:

Either one of these could be mixed in with Twilight, since it's so hot right now.

As a Special Event Planner for over 15 years, I have had the opportunity to plan 100's of Proms. I found the most sucessful proms were ones that didnt have a "Romatic" Theme - But more of a Fun one. For Example:
Hot Havanna Nights - Bright Tropical Decor/ Neon Lights on Palm Trees,
A Pinneapple Palm TRee for A Buffet center piece..
Magic Carpet Ride- Silk Cabanna Tents with over stufed sofas and pillows accented with palm trees. I hired a Camel and A Belly Dancer to get the party started...
The Romantic ones leave the students coming without a date a little out of the "fun" and feeling like a third wheel...
I promise you will look back at your prom and say -WOW we had fun!!!!! In most cases you do not remember your prom as "The most Romantic Night of your life.... ;)

Casino night! It's so fun because you get to play games and then you use your chips to get tickets to win prizes. You can decorate in a Vegas theme or just choose a color scheme. My prom's theme was "The Chemistry Between Us" and was held at a science museum. It was great because it was big enough for two dance floors with different music and we could look at all the exhibits/play with the hands on science stuff.
