I thought the video was very well made. It is obvious that people have many questions. They always will. Think about any former tragedy (Kennedy assination) or great achievement (Moon landing). The conspiracy theorists thrive on these events. Creating their own version which differs from the official version. When two or more explainations of any event arise, people will naturally band behind the story that best suits their view of the world. Those in the middle will have questions!
An actor's job is to pretend to be someone they are not. So, in my humble opinion, they do not make good spokesman/women for a cause. They obviously love the limelight. Therefore, I am not confident that they believe what they are presenting. Was he hired for the spot? The video WAS well made.
These are my thoughts. So I will just sit on the sidelines and watch how the whole thing plays out. I am so tired of the Kennedy and Moon landing debates that I don't even pay attention to them anymore. I expect this tragic event and the endless debates will come to that same end.
It all depends on your point of view:

To actually answer the question, what _is_ the reason we are in Afghanistan, I will give the only explanations that make sense to me: 1) heroin -- Drugs = money; 2) control over fossils fuels; 3) control over territory (empire); 4) human attraction to war

How did all of these aggressive, largely unethical motivations result in an invasion and continued occupation? The best explanation I have heard is the theory given in the book *The Psychology of War : Comprehending Its Mystique and Its Madness*.
Basically, the idea is that 'mythical thinking' (as opposed to observation and rational thought) makes it possible to engage in activities (wars) that solve the most basic age-old human dilemma: the conflict between self and the group.

Put yourself in the position of U.S. leaders who see all of these strategic goals in Afghanistan.

Fair enough, so you think 9/11 went down like the official story?

I have had my doubts due to the way the buildings went down. But for the most part I accept the official story. I just object to Hollywood types grandstanding.

So its okay to accept the President's words, even if you doubt them, but not Mr. Sheen's because he is a nutjob? I mean if he is a nutjob and his claims are similarily useless why doesnt the president answer his (and others) questions?

I think Sheen should go through his Senator or other elected offical and bring any issues to their attention. Work up the chain of command so to speak, rather than just putting stuff online and grandstanding.

WOW! Terrific answer, great sources. I think you bring up some valuable points and back them up nicely, even though you somewhat diverted from my question. I am not sure if I can quite agree with point 1 (heroin trade) but certainly point 2, fossil fuels and control in the region in general are crucially important to American foreign policy.
I also liked the book "America's Secret War" in case you havent read it and it interests you I can only recommend it.
