It was awesome - if it's not in the running for a Peabody next year (or something bigger), I'll be surprised. Humor + humanization + interviews with people who actually ended up getting jailed = the usual amazing stuff out of Comedy Central's World News Headquarters.

I liked the part where they interviewed the Iranian Daily Show fan. I thought it was hilarious when he figured out that it was the Daily Show and did John Stewart's Pres. Bush imitation, "I'm the decider, he-he-he". I was something I did not expect to see.

You have to remember that Iranians are Persians. They are not Arabs and hate to be called that. Their culture and language are beautiful and unique.
Since the fall of the Shaw, they have been looked at through an ugly filter by the US media. Even though their government has reverted back to an old style of Islamic rule for the past twenty years, it does not mean that the people have become any less interesting.
I'm so happy that the Daily Show did this series and I commend Jason Jones for learning about Iranian youth!

What did you think about the Daily Show series in Iran with Jason Jones?
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart did a 4 part series where Jason Jones traveled to Iran just before the elections. I thought it was amazing and really informative, especially for Americans who only see Iranians as part of the "Axis of Evil".

I also thought it was great. They did their normal goofing off, but also had some good stuff. It was nice to see normal Iranian citizens for once. It was neat to see people in their homes and really how nice they are. On news networks you more commonly see just short clips of crowds with soundbites and interviews with leaders and political experts which really only tells us the happenings with the government. I think this helps make a good example of how poorly tv journalism can focus on a small part of a situation and loose perspective. I liked the part where they interviewed the Iranian Daily Show fan. I thought it was hilarious when he figured out that it was the Daily Show and did John Stewart's Pres. Bush imitation, "I'm the decider, he-he-he". I was something I did not expect to see.

I only saw just one of the four parter (will look at the rest online) but was surprised by the humor and thoughtfulness that was put into it. You have to remember that Iranians are Persians. They are not Arabs and hate to be called that. Their culture and language are beautiful and unique.
