What are the keys to success?

Recently, I heard a talk from a Dr. Joel Fischer, who I found quite inspirational. When I listen to a talk, sometimes, I leave without much to remember, but in this one, I remembered the speaker's keys to success as the 3 P's or pee pee pee as he amusingly called it. They were Passion, Perserverance and Patience. When challenging the system to make the world a better place, you want to have the 3 P's behind you. He elaborated. His passion was for the employee's retirement system to divest itself of investments in South Africa because of its policy of Apartheid. He and a small group of equally passionate individuals persevered in the task for 15 years, indicating Patience also. One day, 1.2 Billion dollars was suddenly divested, and South Africa started getting worried if other retirement plans would get the same idea. Two weeks later, Nelson Mandela was released from prison, having spent a total of 29 years behind bars. Joel's website: http://www2.hawaii.edu/~jfischer/index.html

Make comments and share any other stories of success and summarize it in one word.

Self belief - if you don't believe that you can be successful then that will always be an obstacle to success. You also have to be patient because success doesn't come over night and if you give up it could be right before you started to gain momentum.

You also have to be willing to take risks.

Passion is also really important because you have to really love what you do in order to stick with it for the long haul.

Recently I read about Barbara Cerullo, who I find quite inspirational. She recently was told by her doctor she needed to have surgery to remove her parathyroid glands. At this moment her faith began to falter . She was so nervous. It was a time of testing but she held on to her faith and she came out of that surgery totally healed.

Somehow your answer reminded me that I have a doctor appointment tomorrow. I am getting some test results back because they think I might have that same problem. Thanks for that!

I agree with Dr. Joel Fischer these three attributes mentioned would be needed for any individual to be successful in life. But to be successful you need more attributes. The most important ones would be
1. SELF CONFIDENCE,this is something that is lacking in people lives. there is a saying a "journey begins with one step" for some who do not believe in their self they would never start that journey.
2.KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE. While talking to one of my relatives who was giving me pointers about life he made this statement "in life their is no substitute for experience". I started thinking about what he said and it was true. If you have knowledge and experience about a particular subject or situation and you encountered it again is highly unlikely that you would make a mistake when dealing with it again.
.Vision is a must. The bible says "where there is no vision, the people perish" (information taken from www.thercg.org).
3.Tolerance. This one is also lacking of individuals we judge people because of their race, religion, creed color etc. When we do this sometimes we tend not to tolerate their views.
4. Good Advice . Any one can give you advice but you would benefit more from people who can show you and tell you exactly what is needed or to do in a situation.

I can say these 4 are the most important to me because i have applied them to my life. Although i might not be that successful i know i have what it takes to make my life more comfortable for me my friends and family

Thank u for wonderful question for elivation to higher reaches.
In the process of success one should have patience first with out worries for the failures.
In this process one should attain first thoughtless stage by practising with simple techiques ie observation of his normal breath constantly to get ride of continious roaming thoughts .
when he saved his energy from the clutches of un nessary thought pollution he can plan for the success and anylase the situation in proper manner.

Hmm... actually... half of it is be realistic and happy with what you can do.

It's funny... when I stopped worrying about whether or not I was keeping up with the competition on a material plane, and chose to just focus on what I'm good at and like to do, then - curiously - out of nowhere I had more work than I could handle, such that I had to start saying no to requests (which was kind of embarrasing at first, given that I had a reputation for being poor as a church-mouse).

An important key to success will be the recognition of failure in the process of succeeding as opportunity and not being distracted or derailed by these failures.
