I apologize for how long this question has gone unanswered.
While firearms are an important part of my life, the NRA is not. I live in a very rural area with snakes, mountain lions, and feral dogs. When warranted, there is a need to dispatch said creatures in a humane manner, and a firearm is the best answer. My husband is also a personal self-defense trainer who trains others in the realistic use of firearms.
The NRA became of no use for me many years ago. When passing their booths, they would invariably cry out to any male accompanying me to join their ranks, treating me as a non-entity (although I was working for a pro-gun state organization at the time). While they now try to attract women, their extreme stances and endorsement of unsuitable candidates for office make them a non-entity to me. I wish it wasn't so - there needs to be a rational case for gun ownership and responsible use prevalent on the stage.

The NRA convention is in town. Are you heading to the convention? Are guns an important part of your life?
